Invitation to the No Place For Hate Cycle Ride Saturday 27th August 2011
Tower Hamlets Wheelers (London Cycling Campaign) supported by Tower Hamlets Cycling Club are biking the Tower Hamlets borough boundary this Saturday (27th August) to mark signing up to the Tower Hamlets No Place For Hate campaign (see link below). We invite all other cycling groups, and cyclists, in the borough (and those bordering) to join us on this ride.
Ride details; we will meet ON the Green Bridge Mile End Park (location map link), arrive in time for the 10.00 photo opportunity. The ride distance is 17 miles but will cater for those who need a shorter distance (please let us know by Friday noon latest). We expect to return to the Green Bridge at about 13.30 (1.30 pm) but no-one will be left behind. We do ask however that your bike is capable of 17 miles! (ride leaders carry basic repair kits).
There will be the opportunity for comfort stops and short refreshment breaks, however as we are in Ramadan our main cafe stop will be at the end of the ride at Vesuvio Cafe in Three Colts Street, Limehouse .
Ride safety; we aim to use off-road routes where possible but there will be stretches of main road, however we will have marshals and will break up the ride to get safely through junctions. We will explain the rules for towpath use by cyclists before departure.
We will have a NPFH publicity material to display and give away, and the opportunity to sign your own personal pledge to make Tower Hamlets No Place For Hate.
Please keep an eye on the Tower Hamlets Wheelers’ diary and we would appreciate knowing who is likely to be coming, both for numbers and so we can inform you of necessary changes to the event, (Saturday is forecast as sunny).
