Saturday October 12th sees a day of films exploring the theme of love and marriage in the context of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) cinema. It is put together by Camden LGBT Forum and The British Museum and all are welcome! At the end of each film one or two objects from the collections will be discussed with reference to the screening. And don’t miss the Q and A with Curator Richard Parkinson!

1989, 18 minutes, Cert. 18

Director: Richard Kwietniowski

A doctor falls in love with a man in a train station after finding a photograph.

Followed by a Q&A session with curator Richard Parkinson, author of A Little Gay History. Richard will discuss objects from the Museum’s collection to explore same-sex love and gay identity.

A romantic road movie staring Oscar-winning actresses Olympia Dukakis and Brenda Fricker. The story of Stella and Dot, an aging couple who escape from a nursing home in Maine and drive to Nova Scotia on a quest to be legally married. Along the way, they pick up a young male hitchhiker.
